Recently many Xiaomi users have reported a problem regarding different contacts being merged automatically. The issue has created havoc on the MIUI forums as many users got affected. Responding to this issue Xiaomi has released a temporary fix in the form of an Android app named “Contacts Corrector” and you can download the APK from below.
When Xiaomi investigated the issue they have found that the Contacts merge bug was caused by the third party apps like Truecaller, and WhatsApp etc. If you are the victim of this Bug then you can follow the steps listed below to fix automatic contacts merging issue.
How to Fix Contacts Merge Issue on Xiaomi Devices:
Step 1: Download ContactsCorrector.apk file from here.
Step 2: Transfer the Contacts Corrector APK to your Mi device.
Step 3: Enable Unknown Sources option on your device from Settings > Additional Settings > Privacy.
Step 4: With the help of File Manager navigate to the copied APK file and install it on your device.
Step 5: Once installed, open it and grant the permissions app needs.
Step 6: Tap CHECK to scan the affected contacts on your device.
Step 7: Once the scan is completed, tap CORRECT to fix those contacts.
Note: This app only checks for wrong contacts from WhatsApp and Truecaller. It doesn’t change your Local, Google or Mi contacts.

Alternate Solution to Fix Contacts Merge Issue on Xiaomi Devices:
Step 1: Unlock your device and open Settings.
Step 2: Now under Accounts, tap on Other accounts.
Step 3: Make sure Sync is turned on and from the list of accounts turn off Sync for WhatsApp and Truecaller.
Step 4: Re-Sync all the Google Contacts and the wrongly merged contacts should be fixed.
