After Redmi Note 3 and other Mi Phones got updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow from Android 5.1 Lollipop many users started facing issues setting Custom Notification tone on WhatsApp and other apps. In this tutorial, we are going to show the steps on how to fix WhatsApp custom notification issue on Redmi Note 3 and other Xiaomi Phones running on Marshmallow.
Marshmallow comes with the extra security when compared to Android 5.1 Lollipop. Every app asks for special permission allowance when they are installed for the first time. Similarly, there was a permission issue with WhatsApp and other apps since you have updated your device from Android 5.1 Lollipop. Since you are using those apps while the device was running on Android 5.1 Lollipop and now got updated to Marshmallow, it won’t show the permission prompt while you set the custom tone on WhatsApp and other apps.
We personally faced this issue and also the WhatsApp backups were not automatically done. So to figure it out we have allowed all the app permissions to WhatsApp from Security app. But still, the issue was not fixed and finally we looked into the app info page and figured out what the issue is.
Below are the steps on how to fix Custom Notification tone issue on WhatsApp and other apps.
