As in this tutorial we are going to list steps on how to install TWRP Recovery and Root Mi Note 2.
To get started you need to follow the steps listed under early preparations. After following these steps you can proceed to Install TWRP Recovery and Root Xiaomi Mi Note 2.
- Take a complete backup of your important data and settings.
- Charge your device to at least 65% before you proceed to avoid the unwanted shutdown in between the rooting process.
- Enable USB Debugging from Settings > Developer Options. How? Follow here.
- Install Xiaomi Mi Note 2 USB Drivers on PC.
- Setup ADB and Fastboot Drivers.
- Unlock Bootloader on Xiaomi Mi Note 2.

Install TWRP Recovery on Xiaomi Mi Note 2:
Step 1: Download TWRP Recovery for Mi Note 2 from here.
Step 2: Extract it and rename the obtained file to “twrp.img“.
Step 3: Copy the “twrp.img” file inside ADB and Fastboot folder.
Step 4: Now open the ADB and Fastboot folder and press and hold the Shift key and right-click inside the folder at the empty space and choose Open command window here.
Step 5: Connect your device to PC.
Step 6: Enter the below command to boot Xiaomi Mi Note 2 into Fastboot Mode.
adb reboot bootloader
Step 7: Enter the below command to flash TWRP Recovery on Mi Note 2.
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Step 8: Enter the below command to Reboot Xiaomi Mi Note 2.

Root Mi Note 2 using SuperSU zip Package:
Step 1: Download SuperSu zip package [Link] and transfer to your device.
Step 2: Power off and boot into Recovery Mode by pressing and holding Volume Up and Power buttons together.
Step 3: From TWRP Recovery Menu tap on Install and choose the SuperSU zip package.
Step 4: Swipe to confirm flash.
Step 5: Once done, Reboot your device.
